What's more terrifying than a first date? The first date is always exciting but it is usually preceded by a lot of nerves and panics, especially when it comes to choosing your outfit for the day. As the old saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Therefore, you have to make sure you get it right when it comes to a first date.

The dos

• Instead of wearing something that you are not confident in, go with something you have worn and know you can rock it well. Remember to try not to take risks on your first date. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
• Wear natural makeup. You will look much more attractive and appropriate to keep your makeup light and clean. Most people might think that it is crucial to achieving full face makeup. However, they prefer the natural look as they will be able to get to know the real you.
• Not sure what to style with your hair? Just leave your hair down. This is the look that suits most people. You have to be confident with yourself and should not change yourself for your date. If you enjoy wearing a ponytail, you should wear your hair this way for your date.
• Remember to leave a little more to the imagination on your first date. Make sure you are not wearing mini shorts or your V neck is not too deep. It is better for you to appear reserved and leave more to the imagination, as there is always time for that later!

 

The don’ts

• Make sure you don’t go somewhere overflowing with eye candy. Stay away from clothes that show too much skin. You don’t want your date to get distracted while staring at your skin. It might be a struggle for them to make eye contact with you.
• Keep your super high heels at home and wear something that is not over 5cm in height. A pair of flats or lower heels shoes are recommended to wear on a first date. This is because you might not be sure how tall your date is and you don’t want to be towering over another person.
• Although dungarees can be super comfy and have come back into style, avoid wearing them to your first date. It might look cute on you but it is not an appropriate choice to wear. You are more likely to get straight into the friend zone.
• Less is more! Don’t wear too much makeup to your date, even though you want to look your best on the first date. Wear light makeup instead while keeping your look subtle and not too overdone.

Trending outfit on what to wear on a first date

For a brunch date

Your look should be much simpler in the daytime. If jeans are your comfort zone, you can dress up your favourite pair with a gorgeous puff-sleeve top and pastel colour mules. And if you run cold, make sure you bring a layer to throw on top, so you are not too worried about the temperature that leaves your body uncomfortable.

For a casual dinner date

Make sure you are not too overdressed for the casual dinner date. You can go with a casual dress to keep it as simple as possible, as you will feel much more date-ready and will not look like you are trying so hard. Pick something that is fun and bright and pair it up with your favourite low heel shoes or flats to complete the look. 

For a movie date

Wear something comfortable that you can sit in for hours. You won’t want to wear clothes that are tight or too skinny, which will distract you throughout the movie. Go with your vintage tee, and if you don’t have it, steal from your brother’s wardrobe. Pair it up with your high waisted jeans and with a nice pair of white sneakers. This comfy outfit looks great on everyone, and definitely the one that guys love.
